Hadith of the Week

Honesty, Honor, and Trust. No to Slavery.

Narrated by Abu
Huraira, r.a.:
The Prophet said:
"Allah said, 'I will be an opponent to three types of people on the Day of Resurrection:
  1. One who makes a covenant in My Name, but proves treacherous;
  2. One who sells a free person and eats
    his price; and
  3. One who employs a laborer and takes full work from him but does not pay him for his labor."

The West's Disgraceful Silence on the Death of Morsi
by Robert Fisk

Ye Gods, how brave was our response to the outrageous death-in-a-cage of Mohamed Morsi. It is perhaps a little tiresome to repeat all the words of regret and mourning, of revulsion and horror, of eardrum-busting condemnation pouring forth about the death of Egypt's only elected president in his Cairo courtroom this week. From Downing Street and from the White House, from the German Chancellery to the Elysee - and let us not forget the Berlaymont - our statesmen and women did us proud. Wearying it would be indeed to dwell upon their remorse and protests at Morsi's death.

The Rising Tide of Hate in India. Targets are Muslims, Christians, and Dalits
[Facts gleaned from the latest US State Dept report]

Attacks on religious minorities included allegations of involvement by law enforcement personnel. On January 10, Jammu and Kashmir police arrested eight men, including four police personnel, in connection with the kidnapping, gang rape, and killing of an 8-year-old girl. The men allegedly kidnapped the victim, took her to a nearby temple, and raped and killed her in an effort to drive her nomadic Muslim community out of the area. In September Uttar Pradesh authorities suspended three police officers after videos surfaced of them abusing a Hindu woman in Meerut for reportedly consorting with a Muslim man. The central and state governments and members of political parties took steps that affected Muslim practices and institutions. The government continued its challenge in the Supreme Court to the minority status of Muslim educational institutions, which affords them independence in hiring and curriculum decisions. Proposals to rename Indian cities with Muslim provenance continued, most notably the renaming of Allahabad to Prayagraj. Activists said these proposals were designed to erase Muslim contributions to Indian history and had led to increased communal tensions.

There were reports of religiously motivated killings, assaults, riots, discrimination, vandalism, and actions restricting the right of individuals to practice their religious beliefs and proselytize. According to Ministry of Home Affairs (MHA) data presented in the lower house of parliament on February 6, communal incidents increased by 9 percent from 2015 to 2017, with 822 incidents resulting in 111 deaths and 2,384 injuries in 2017. Authorities often failed to prosecute perpetrators of "cow vigilante" attacks, which included killings, mob violence, and intimidation. On July 21, a group attacked and killed Rakbar Khan, a Muslim dairy farmer from Haryana, while he was transporting two cows at night. In December an estimated 300 persons, angered by reports of cows being slaughtered in the area, set fire to the police station in Chigrawati and killed a police officer. An 18-year-old protester was also killed in the violence. A mob assaulted two Muslim men, killing one, in Madhya Pradesh's Satna District on May 17, alleging they were slaughtering a bull. Police arrested four assailants and filed a complaint alleging cow slaughter against the injured survivor. On January 20, a Christian pastor was found dead at his residence in Tamil Nadu. Members of his congregation alleged he had been murdered, and that he had been a victim of frequent past harassment by Hindu fundamentalist organizations. According to the NGO Persecution Relief's 2017 Annual Report released in January, there were 736 incidents of persecution against Christians in 2017 compared to 348 in 2016. Tradition and social custom continued to deny entry to women and members of Dalit communities (former untouchables) into many places of worship. In December the Shiv Sena Party published an editorial calling for government to curb the growth of the country's Muslim population through such measures as compulsory family planning for Muslims. On September 28, the Supreme Court overturned a ban on females aged 10 to 50 years from entering the Hindu Sabarimala temple in Kerala, a move that, according to media, sparked political controversy across the country.

Female Suffering in USA

It should be noted that only 30 percent of sex assault cases are reported to authorities and about 18 percent of U.S. women — nearly one in five — have been raped, according to the Justice Department's Office of Sex Offender Sentencing, Monitoring, Apprehending, Registering, and Tracking.

When it comes to child sex abusers, an estimated 60 percent of sexual abusers know the victim but aren't family members. This includes child care providers, family friends, neighbors and babysitters. Furthermore, only about 10 percent of child sex abuser are strangers to the child.

 Dr Kaukab Siddique

Without Women's participation in good works, activism, equality with Husbands, Islamic Requirement is not fulfilled.
Many American Women are like Slaves of Men and their Victims.
Abortion:What does Islam say?

On June 28, Br. Kaukab Siddique gave the juma khutba at Masjid Jamaat al-Muslimeen in Baltimore. Despite intense hot weather, the masjid was full. Here is an outline of the khutba:

Text: "And when the girl-child that was buried alive is asked for what sin was she slain?". Quran 81:8-9

  1. The unbelievers before Islam changed them had their own version of abortion. Many of them buried their baby daughters alive.

  2. The Qur'an condemns this horrific but commonplace atrocity in the strongest possible words. [81:8-9]
In his tafseer of these verses, Maulana Maudoodi says the words in Arabic convey Divine Anger as does their placing within the context of the
destruction of the world. ---See Tafheem ul-Qur'an.]

  3. Hadith narrates that one of the men before Islam threw his daughter into a well. After Islam, he came to the Prophet, pbuh, for repentance and forgiveness. When he recounted the horrible crime to the Prophet, pbuh, how the little girl used to follow her father everywhere and when he threw her into the well, her last words were "my father, my father." On hearing this story, the Prophet, pbuh, cried so much that his beard became wet.

  4. Modern abortions are like the primitive burials of female children. Abortion on demand has become common in America, linked as it is to random and casual sex. Freedom to have sex anytime and often anywhere leads to a certain percentage of unwanted pregnancies which are then terminated through abortion. Thus the end of family control on the sexual activities of their children,. the crumbling family system, is linked to thecoast-to-coast phenomenon of abortion.

  5. On a more secretive level, abortion on demand is also seeping into Muslim countries.

  6. On the other extreme, opponents of abortion oppose all abortion regardless of what some pregnancies can do to women. Authentic hadith equate the honor of the Muslim [I.e. women] to the sacredness of the Ka'aba itself. Again, hadith indicates that Islam does not equate the fetus to a human being and does not consider abortion equal to murder. So I would support abortion in cases of incest, rape and permanent damage to the woman's health.

  7. Part 2.

  8. Many Muslims condemn the behavior of women who walk around almost naked, with short, short skirts and plunging neck lines. These Muslims do not realize that female behavior of near nudity is linked to the desires of men. Look at BET and other late night TV programs. Men love women who are a condition of near nudity. By contrast, men on US TV are shown heavily dressed, often in three piece suits. This discrimination indicates that women are considered inferior and have to uncover to please men.

  9. My research shows that this discrimination is a spill over from slavery times. The slave master could do whatever he swanted to do to female slaves and in turn his White wife would let him do whatever to compete with what he was doing to slave women.

  10. Notice that in more than 200 years of American independence, no male has been executed for rape, even for rape with mutilation.

  11. Men could just walk away from marriage leaving the woman helpless. Now the laws are favoring women but are only creating family tension and break up.

  12. Crimes against women have become so common place that entire TV channels are documenting these horrific crimes . Even now the media do not label them as "crimes against women" but simply as "crimes." [Check ID, Oxygen and other documentary programs.]

  13. Islam requires us to bring women into:

    1. Equal participation in decisions. [Even a conservative scholar like Maudoodi taught mutual consultation between husband and wie in his commentary of Sura Shoora.]

    2. Equality in all matters including jihad. [Sura ale Imran]. Women should be trained to defend themselves when men are not there..

    3. Taqwa, NOT GENDER, is the standard of nobility and superiority, [Sura al-Hujurat.

    4. Notice that in the battle of Uhud, when the Prophet, pbuh, life was in immediate danger, he was defended by a woman, Umm Ammara, r.a. [See Tabaqat of Ibn aad for details.]

  14. Today in Palestine, Syria and even Afghanistan, women are joining the struggle against invasion and tyranny.

Du'a: O Allah, give health to those of us who are not well, give jobs to those who don't have jobs, halal earning to those who have jobs. O Allah help us to study the Qur'an and hadith every day. Give us spouses and children who will stand with us for Islam. Ameen.

Major Defeat for Haftar's Egypt-UAE Backed Army.
Turkish Weapons Helped Tripoli Regime to counterattack

On June 26, Tripoli's government's forces captured the strategic town of Gharyan, south of Tripoli.

It was a surprise attack after Haftar's forces were lured into thinking that major fighting would take place in the north towards Tripoli.

Haftar's entire military encampment, heavy weapons and operations room were destroyed in the fighting.

Turkey is credited with sending weaponry to the legitimate government in Tripoli.

Haftar is a brutal general supported by Egypt and the UAE and indirectly by USA and Russia.

After the defeat in Gharyan, Haftar is threatening Turkish civilian interests in Libya and has arrested six Turks. Haftar has been warned by Turkey to stop his activities against civilians even has Haftar's [UAE] bombed Gharyan and Tripoli airport.

Russian bombing stopped temporarily but Assad and Iran pumped in 6000 artillery shells and rockets into Mujahid positions. Assad in Full Retreat.

During this week two important battles took place in northwestern Hama province in both of which Assad and his Shia allies were badly beaten but retreated under Russian air cover.

June 29: Iranian and Assad artillery poured 6000 artillery shells and rockets into mujahideen positions but were not able to advance.

In Deir ez Zor province ISIS is carrying out guerrilla warfare against SDF [US backed Kurds]. When ISIS killed the commander of an SDF militia and his 4 guards, SDF cornered an IS raider, killed him and hung his body in the middle of Hajin town.

In a serious infiltration near Baghouz, US helicopters were called in to force IS agents to retreat,

Here is a summary of the two major battles this week: [Heaviest casualties on June 26. ]

June 28. Assad forces and his shia allies launched 4 attacks on the towns of al-Jabeen and al-Mehli in northwestern Hama provinces. The mujahideen drove them back killing 55 of the shia troops, a big loss for one day. However when the Islamics chased the Assadis, the Russian air force bombed the Muslims, killing 45. (Syrian observatory]

June 26. Islamic victory. After 10 days of fighting shia forces led by Iranians and commanded by Assad's top general Suhail al-Hasan were beaten back and forced to retreat by mujahideen of al-Nusra and other groups. Russian air force was bombing the Muslims but the intense fighting in northern Hama province ended in Islamic victory. The regime was trying to capture three villages but failed. Heavy casualties on both sides.[256 Regime-Shia killed, 240 mujahideen-opposition killed. It was bloody slaughter, observers say.]

Hizbullah forces supporting Assad are quietly slinking away back to Lebanon. They were keeping it secret but the news came out.]

Bangladesh

 Bangladesh
[With thanks to L.]
Bangladesh's mainstream pupils more radical than Islamic school graduates.

A police study has revealed that more than half of the country's radicalized students complete their education in general schools. Experts say the government needs to shift focus while targeting potential militants.

The Anti-terrorism Unit of Bangladesh's police published the report, called Preventing Terrorism and Extremism through Community Engagement, last week. The study used data collected from 3,000 suspects who were arrested between 2015 and 2017.

"The common idea is that only Madrassas produce militants, which is absolutely wrong. It is evident that only the Madrassa or Islamic education system cannot be blamed for militancy," Additional Deputy Inspector General (Intelligence) Mohammed Moniruzzaman told DW.

Education to blame?

Schooling in Bangladesh is divided into three chief systems. The general, or mainstream education system treats all religions equally and the curriculum is controlled by the government. Madrassas focus on Islamic education for their students and English-medium schools offer all subjects in the English language. There are around 100,000 primary schools in Bangladesh that follow the general system.

Data from the police study revealed that 56% of Islamic radicals had been educated in the general system, while 22% each came from English-medium and Madrassa schools, although the English system has only 200 schools compared to 20,000 Madrassas.

Speaking to DW, Shantanu Majumder, professor at the University of Dhaka said that the education system alone was not to blame for influencing students negatively.

"One can be exposed to such [radical] ideas sitting in any type of school, whereas I still believe that the government should not take its hands off of monitoring the books or syllabus that are studied in some religion-based schools," he told DW.

More internet, more radicals?

The survey also revealed that 80% of those arrested were radicalized through the Internet while 20% were swayed by their peers. Police officer Moniruzzaman said that students of Bengali and English-medium schools used the internet more often compared to Madrassa students.

He said it was possible that frequent access resulted in more radicalization, but other surveys have proved the contrary. For example, a survey by Move Foundation, a nonprofit organization based in Bangladesh, revealed that 75% of Madrassa students had access to the internet through their mobile phones and tablets. Their survey included 36 Madrassas across 12 districts of Bangladesh.

"On an average, students of Madrassas spend one and half hours on the internet every day," Saiful Haq, the head of the NGO told DW, adding, "Girls spend more time than the boys." However, school administrators could not prevent students from using the internet when they were at home.

"Many of them use mobile phones and computers at home. They can use the internet there," Mawlana Mahfuzul Haq, principal of the Jamia Rahmania Arabia Madrassa in the capital of Dhaka told DW. He also said that his institution regularly held teachings to dissuade students from joining radical groups. "With references from the holy Quran and Hadith we tell them that there is no relation between religion and terrorism," he said.

Shift in Focus

In the last few years, several terror attacks in Bangladesh, including at the Holey artisan bakery in Dhaka, the murders of bloggers and liberal thinkers have led the government of Bangladesh to adopt a "zero-tolerance approach" towards Islamic radicalization. Among other initiatives to prevent the youth from joining extremists, the police are increasingly monitoring educational institutions other than Madrassas.

"Especially after the Holey Artisan attack where students from private universities were involved, the common attitude of blaming Madrassas for spreading radicalization has changed drastically among people," the University of Dhaka's Shantanu Majumder told DW.

He thinks that government agencies have successfully countered terror acts, but there is a complex process through which radicalization occurs, and this has increased. On the other hand, cultural activities like theater, which create open attitudes and promote free thinking, have reduced.

Majumder feels that focusing on cultural movements could fight radicalization. "For that, we need to promote more cultural activities in schools, hostels and other places."

*Food & Eating Habits According to the Sunnah*
Imaam Ibnul-Qayyim al-Jawziyyah~{Rahimhullah}
Comprehensive notes covering the most important qualities of the Prophet
(Sallallaahu 'Alayhi wa Sallam) in regards to food and diet.

'It is sufficient for the son of Aadam to eat a few mouthfuls, to keep him going.. If he must do that (fill his stomach), then let him fill one third with food, one third with drink and one third with air.
FOOD...
: When he put his hand in the food, he would say, "Bismillaah (with the Name of Allaah),'' and he told people to say this when eating. he said, "When any one of you eats, let him mention the name of Allaah. If he forgets to mention the name of Allaah at the beginning, let him say..
'Bismillaahi fee Awwalihi wa Aakhirihi,' (with the name of Allaah, at its beginning and at its end)."
The correct view is that it is obligatory to mention the name of Allaah
(say 'Bismillaah') when eating.. {The ahaadeeth which state this are Saheeh (authentic) and are clear, with no contradictions in them.}
When he raised the food to his mouth, he would say..
"Al-hamdu lillaahi hamdan katheeran tayyiban mubaarakan feehi, ghayra [makfiyyin wa laa] muwadda'in, wa laa mustaghnan 'anhu Rabbanaa 'azza wa jall. Translation: [All praise is to Allaah, praise in abundance, good and blessed. It cannot [be compensated for, nor can it] be left, nor can it be done without, our Lord. he never criticized food at all.
If he liked it, he would eat it, and if he did not like it, he would leave it and not say anything. or he would say.. "I do not feel like eating this." : Sometimes he would praise the food, as when he asked his family for food, and they said, "We have nothing but vinegar." he asked for it and started to eat it, saying.. " What good food is Vinegar." : he used to talk whilst he was eating, as is seen from the report quoted above about vinegar. And he said to his stepson .. 'Umar Ibn Abee Salamah (radiyallaahu 'anhu) when he was eating with him..
"Say Bismillaah and eat from that which is in front of you in the dish.''
He would repeatedly urge his guests to eat, as generous hosts do, and as is seen in the hadeeth of .. [Aboo Hurayrah (radiyallaahu 'anhu), related by al-Bukhaaree..] about the story of drinking milk, where he repeatedly said to him.. "Drink," and he kept telling him to drink until he (the guest) said.. "By the One Who sent you with the truth,
I have no more room for it "! When he ate with others, he would not leave until he had made Du'aa (supplication) for them. he made Du'aa in the house of 'Abdullaah Ibn Bishr,(Allah be pleased with him) and said..
" O Allaah, bless for them that which You have provided for them, forgive them and have mercy on them." he commanded people to eat with their right hands and forbade them to eat with their
left hands. he said...
" The Shaytaan eats with his left hand and drinks with his left hand."

Note: This implies that eating with the left hand is 'Haraam' (unlawful), and this is the correct view, because the one who eats with his left hand is either a Shaytaan (Devil), or he is imitating the Shaytaan.

It was also reported in an authentic 'Hadeeth' that he told a man who was eating with his left hand in his presence..

" Eat with your right hand ! " The man said, "I cannot." he said..
" May you never be able to," and the man never lifted his right hand to his mouth after that.. he commanded those who complained that they never felt full to eat together and not separately, and to mention the name of Allaah (say 'Bismillaah') over the food so that He might bless it for them. It was also reported that he said..
" I do not eat reclining." he used to eat using the first three fingers (of his right hand), which is the best way of eating .. !

THE PROPHET'S, pbuh, GUIDANCE REGARDING EATING:
[1]: The Prophet (sallallaahu 'alayhi wa sallam)
used to know what he was eating.
[2]: he used to eat whatever was good for him.
[3]: he used to eat enough to keep him going, but no so much as to make him fat Ibn 'Umar [Allah be pleased with him] related that ..
Prophet ~(sallallaahu 'alayhi wa sallam) said.. "The believer eats in one stomach whilst the disbeliever eats in seven !"
[4]: He taught his 'Ummah' something to protect them
from diseases caused by eating and drinking.

Prophet~(Sallallaahu 'Alayhi wa Sallam) said..
"The son of Aadam does not fill any vessel worse than his stomach.

It is sufficient for the son of Aadam to eat a few mouthfuls, to keep him going. If he must do that (fill his stomach), then let him fill one third with food, one third with drink and one third with air."
