On July 29, Br. Kaukab Siddique gave the juma' khutba at
masjid Jamaat al-Muslimeen in Baltimore.
The crowd was very receptive and a friendly little black cat
came to the podium, very friendly, as if it wanted to give
the khutba. The cat belongs to the masjid but a Muslim
neighbor wants the cat.
Here is a summary of the main points of the khutba:

Text: "The vanguard (of Islam)- the first of those who
forsook (their homes) and of those who gave them aid, and
(also) those who follow them in(all) good deeds,-
well-pleased is Allah with them, as are they with Him: fort
hem hath He prepared gardens under which rivers flow, to
dwell therein forever: that is the supreme felicity."

Most Muslims don't know that the Islamic new year begins
tomorrow. July 30, depending on the sighting of the
crescent.
The hijra calendar was implemented by Umar, r.a., the
second rightly guided caliph of Islam. He had learned from
the prophet about the miraculous crossing of the red sea by
Moses and the Egyptian migrants into Palestine.
An even greater event was the migration [hijra] of the
Prophet, pbuh, and the sahaba, the Companions of the
Prophet, from Makka to Medina. Thus Islam is not the
religion of a territory or a tribe or a nation, but of the
servants of Allah.
The sahaba, at the direction of the prophet, set up the
first Islamic state in Madina. The Islamic state is the
basic requirement of Islamic identity.
The oppressors and idol worshippers did not kept
attacking the prophet even after he migrated from Makka.
Finally the Muslims counterattacked and defeated the idol
worshippers.
The superpowers of that time, the Persians and the
Christians sent huge armies to destroy the
Islamic state which they thought might have been weakened by
the passing away of the prophet.
They also stirred up local tribes in Arabia.
However both superpowers were defeated and demolished by
the sahaba and the new converts
to Islam. People like Khalid, r.a., Saad, r.a., Abu Sufian,
r.a, numerous Islamic women who wanted to give their lives
for Islam.
The sahaba, prophet's companions are highly praised by
Allah in the Qur'an. No one could defeat them.
Those who had seen the Prophet's inspiring faith and
conduct transformed people. Even now
if a person reads the Qur'an with translation and
understanding, becomes a different person,enlightened and
spiritually illuminated and fearless.
We must always put the Qur'an and authentic hadith first
in our lives.
We have many scholars today who are inviting the Muslims to
be fearless and supporting the
oppressed and downtrodden people.
The genuine scholars today through their writings are
inviting us to follow Allah and his prophet, pbuh. Note
genuine scholars like Ibn Taymiyya, Usman Dan Fodio, Maulana
Maudoodi, Ibn Abdul Wahhab, Allama Iqbal and countless
others from whom we can get in touch with Qur'an and
authentic hadith.
Part 2:
We must study the Quran and some hadith on a daily
basis.
Quran was revealed over 23 years. At least we should
know which suras were revealed in Makka and which in
Madina.
Rights of women were revealed on an ongoing basis, from
proper conservative marriages to equality.
Women should be able to teach us. They even taught Imam
Bukhari. Talking down to women is a major blunder.
Don't marry non-Muslims. [Br. Kaukab's fatwa forbidding
marriage with non-Muslims was distributed after the
prayers.]
May Allah forgive our sins and shortcomings.

Lahore: July 26: Jamaat-e-Islami Emir Sirajul Haq has called
for grand dialogue among political parties in
parliament.
Addressing a press conference at Mansoorah on Tuesday, he
said the country could no longer afford the worst
polarization as the dialogue was the only option left to
bring Pakistan out of prevailing crises.
The JI was ready to host the negotiation if the political
parties were willing, he offered.
The ruling parties, he said, had already converted the
parliament into rubber stamp-body and one of them was
criticizing the Election Commission of Pakistan. It was
first time in the history that political leaders and workers
were openly attacking the judges of the Supreme Court, he
said. The situation, he added, had reached to the point
where every institution was made controversial.
"Don't drag the judiciary into political conflicts," he
suggested to the politicians, asking them to reflect
maturity and come to the table to settle their disputes. In
case of politicians' failure, he warned, the country could
meet an irreparable loss.
He also criticized three ruling parties for seeking
establishment support time and again to remain in power,
saying the latter also came under severe criticism for not
keeping its neutrality intact defined in the Constitution of
Pakistan.
The role of establishment, he said, was being questioned
frequently particularly after the General Election of 2018.
The PTI, he added, had failed to deliver in three and half
years and now the unity government of the PDM and the PPP
was also following the past policies, ignoring the masses
who were under constant burden of inflation and faced hours
long load shedding. Hundreds died and thousands of houses
washed away in rains and floods in parts of the country, he
said, adding the rulers had long been abandoned the poor,
focusing on the protection of self-interests.
To a question, he said the election without reforms would
prove a futile exercised, considering the prevailing
situation. No one would be ready to accept the polls'
results if they held without the agreement of political
players on election process, he said. The JI, he said,
wanted polls under the principle of proportional
representation, adding it was the only way to get rid of the
politics of electable.
He said the institutions and politicians should surrender
before the Constitution. The JI, he said, wanted the
supremacy of law and Islamic system in the country.
JI Deputy Secratry General Muhammad Ashgar and Information
Secretary Qaisar Sharif were also present during the
presser.

The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) today
released new data showing a total of 1,357,940 reports of
adverse events following COVID-19 vaccines were submitted
between Dec. 14, 2020, and July 22, 2022, to the Vaccine
Adverse Event Reporting System (VAERS). That's an increase
of 6,990 adverse events over the previous week.
The data included a total of 29,790 reports of deaths -- an
increase of 155 over the previous week -- and 247,686
serious injuries, including deaths, during the same time
period -- up 1,010 compared with the previous week.
Of the 29,790 reported deaths, 19,236 cases are attributed
to Pfizer's COVID-19 vaccine, 7,917 cases to Moderna, 2,584
cases to Johnson & Johnson (J&J) and no cases yet reported
for Novavax.

Shafaq News/ The President of the Kurdistan region,
Nechirvan Barzani, on Sunday urged the Iraqi political
forces to join hands to face ISIS resurgence after last
night's attacks against the security forces in Baghdad,
Kirkuk, Saladin, and Diyala.
"Last night's series of attacks by ISIS on the Iraqi armed
forces and the federal police in Baghdad, Diyala, Salahaddin
and Kirkuk, which killed seven people and injured more than
20 others, is a serious alarm," the President said in a
statement on Monday.
"The ISIS movements, its reinforcement and the expansion of
its attacks pose real threats to the security and stability
of Iraq, which must be taken seriously and responded to
decisively," he added, "to counter the threat of ISIS, more
effective cooperation and coordination between the army, the
armed forces, Peshmerga and security agencies in Iraq and
the Kurdistan Region are needed."
"The international coalition against ISIS must continue to
support Iraq and the Kurdistan Region in that
objective."
"The security and political conditions in Iraq require all
Iraqi forces and parties to overcome the difficulties
together. Political tensions should no longer disrupt
security and stability of the country and cause further
strengthening of ISIS."
"I extend my condolences to the families of the fallen
heroes and share their grief. I wish the wounded a speedy
recovery," he concluded.

Ramallah, occupied West Bank - A 16-year-old Palestinian has
been shot dead by the Israeli army in the village of
al-Mughayyer, near the occupied West Bank city of Ramallah,
according to the Palestinian health ministry and
witnesses.
The ministry identified the youth as Amjad Nashat Abu Alya,
saying he was shot with a bullet to the chest on Friday
afternoon.

Declassified documents have revealed fresh details on the
planned murder of Palestinian civilians during the Kafr
Qasem massacre, when an Israeli commander advised troops
that "it was desirable for there to be a number of
fatalities".
Fifty Palestinian civilians, including children, elderly
residents and a pregnant woman, were killed by Israeli
troops as they returned home from work. They had no
knowledge the village had been placed under curfew.
According to the trial transcripts of Chaim Levy, who
commanded the Israeli army in Kafr Qasem, the troops knew
their victims were unarmed civilians who had not been
informed about the curfew.
"The same goes for them as anyone else," Levy said he was
told by a commander, regarding the civilians.
In one exchange during his trial, Levy was asked: "Doesn't
your reason tell you that 'violating a curfew' means by
someone who knows that there is a curfew?" Levy said he
agreed.
Four Million Displaced
Bangladesh is experiencing the worst floods in more than a
century, which have already killed at least 32 people.
So far, four million people have been displaced and
authorities have issued warnings as the water levels are
expected to remain high in the country's north-eastern
region, including Sylhet and Sunamganj.
In the past couple of months, villagers in north-eastern
Bangladesh have crowded makeshift refugee centres as the
massive floods continued to wreak the country. .

The Coalition to End Forced Labour in the Uyghur Region
calls on corporations, in all countries, to sever all
relationships with Xinjiang Production and Construction
Corps (XPCC) companies and their subsidiaries.
The call follows the release of a new report, Until Nothing
is Left, providing alarming insights into the systemic
repression of Uyghurs by the XPCC - the Chinese government's
state-run paramilitary corporate conglomerate.
The XPCC operates in the Xinjiang Uyghur Autonomous Region
of China (Uyghur Region), where it systematically abuses
Uyghurs and other Turkic and Muslim majority peoples by
operating internment camps with forced labour. The report,
published today by the Helena Kennedy Centre for
International Justice at Sheffield Hallam University,
identifies warehouses and logistics companies that are known
to source from the XPCC.
The report explores the XPCC's activities, since its
founding in 1954, that repress the majority Turkic and
Muslim population in the Uyghur Region and erase their
culture. The XPCC functions as a regional government, a
bureau of prisons, a media empire, and an education
system.
New research and aggregated data examine the XPCC's role in
driving the crimes against humanity being committed in the
Uyghur Region, its engagement in systematic forced labour,
and its role in exporting - and thereby tainting world
markets with - products made with forced labour.
"The main purpose of the XPCC is to control, intimidate,
disperse, and ultimately break down the Uyghur people until
there is nothing left of their culture," said Laura Murphy,
Professor of Human Rights and Contemporary Slavery at the
Helena Kennedy Centre for International Justice at Sheffield
Hallam University and one of the authors of the report. "The
corporate empire that it has built on the backs of its
forced labour programs has a huge footprint in the global
economy, and it's essential that world leaders in both
business and government stand against the XPCC and its
violations of human rights. As long as companies around the
world continue to source from XPCC subsidiaries, Uyghurs and
other local peoples in the region will continue to
suffer."
In the XPCC's system, residents are "re-educated" and
stripped of their culture through a program of forced
labour, abuse, and indoctrination. The report provides
satellite imagery of significant expansion of the prison
system between 2015 and 2019, noting that, "in the last
several years, it has become difficult to distinguish
between the XPCC's prisons and its internment camps."
The report also examines the XPCC's embrace of labour
transfer schemes and use of forced labour to discipline and
control the population's mobility and reap the financial
benefits. With up to 20% of all cotton-based products and
10% of the world's polyvinyl chloride (PVC) coming from the
Uyghur Region, there are enormous profits that result from
the XPCC's crimes against humanity.
The report also looks at the businesses benefiting from
relationships with the XPCC. A robust list of warehouses and
logistics companies that are known to be purchasing cotton
from the XPCC is included; this list is a resource for
companies looking to cut ties with all partners with links
to the XPCC. It is also a source for authorities charged
with enforcing legislation banning the import of
forced-labour made goods or imposing sanctions on
responsible individuals, like the Uyghur Forced Labor
Prevention Act in the U.S. and global Magnitsky
sanctions.
Researchers issued a series of recommendations in response
to the XPCC's insidious involvement in human rights
violations. These include:
Businesses should end all sourcing from XPCC companies and
subsidiaries, and development finance institutions and
investment banks should end all investments in, and retract
all contracts with, XPCC entities; and
Governments should implement import bans on goods made with
Uyghur forced labour, require importers to disclose
identifying information about their suppliers and
manufacturers, and publicly disclose customs data .
Early History of Aafia Siddiqui

Dr. Aafia Siddiqui came to America from Pakistan as an
18-year-old student. She attended the University of Houston
(Texas) as a freshman, before matriculating to the
Massachusetts Institute of Technology in Boston, where she
earned her bachelor's degree in biology. She later earned
her Ph.D. at Brandeis University, with an academic focus on
"How Children Learn" (the title of her thesis).
Not long after the tragedy of Sept. 11, 2001, Aafia and her
former husband, Dr. Amjad Khan (a practicing physician),
decided to return to Pakistan as a result of the corrosive
post-9/11 hostility toward law-abiding Muslims throughout
America. In December 2002, following an acrimonious
separation and divorce, Aafia decided to go back to the U.S.
to pursue work in her professional field. Shortly
thereafter, however, she returned to Pakistan.
In 2003, the U.S. Department of Justice under Attorney
General John Ashcroft publicly identified Dr. Aafia Siddiqui
as someone believed to be an "al-Qaeda facilitator." In
March of that year, after departing her family's home in
Karachi to visit an uncle in Islamabad, the taxi in which
she and her three young children were traveling was stopped.
Aafia and her children were forcibly removed, then they
disappeared without a trace. (The two oldest, Ahmed and
Maryam, are American citizens by birth. Suleman, who was
only six months old at the time of their abduction, remains
missing to this day.)
In 2008, four Muslim men escaped from the U.S.-run prison at
Bagram, Afghanistan and recounted their observations and
experiences in a series of interviews. They told stories
about a Pakistani woman (known only as "Prisoner 650") who
was routinely tortured at the prison. Additional details
about this mysterious woman led those in the know to suspect
she might be Dr. Siddiqui.
