Israel-Hamas Ceasefire: Hope or Deceit?
By Dr. Kaukab Siddique
Israel and Hamas have announced that the ceasefire agreement
will go into effect on Sunday, January 19. Both Democrats
and Republicans want to take credit for the ceasefire
agreement which has yet to take place. And both parties,
while claiming to want peace, have consistently funneled
massive amounts of money and weapons to the Zionist entity,
which is then used for the occupation, subjugation, and
often times, the killing of Palestinians.
Shortly after the ceasefire agreement had been proclaimed,
Israel continued its bombing, and in the following week,
killed 100 more Palestinians. Nearly all housing in Gaza has
been destroyed or seriously damaged by Israel, ensuring
there will be no housing for Gazans. Israel has also
continued to attack hospitals in Gaza, ensuring that there
will be no medical care for Gazans.
A particularly outrageous action by the Zionist entity in
the weeks leading up to the cease fire agreement was the IDF
kidnapping of Dr. Hussam Abu Safiya, the head of the
Gaza
S Kamal Adwan Hospital, during a December 27 attack on the
hospital. Five of Abu Safiya's doctor colleagues were shot
to death in front of him. The hospital was then burned down.
Abu Safiya continues to be held, presumably under torture,
by Israel. One hopes that this is not the spirit with which
"Israel" has entered into the "ceasefire."
Israeli bombing and murders of Palestinians continued even
after the ceasefire was proclaimed and people in Gaza,
seeing hope for the first time, were celebrating in the
streets and distributing sweets.
Another odd development was that Mahmoud Abbas' Palestine
Authority (PA) announced on January 17 that it was ready to
govern Gaza. This is problematic for several reasons. For
one, the PA was not a party to the ceasefire talks. Even
more troubling is the fact that the PA has been known to
arrest Palestinian opponents of the Israeli occupation. Many
Palestinians have voiced concerns that the PA allows the
occupation to continue. Recently, the PA shut down
Al-Jazeera offices in the West Bank, stifling the leading
news source out of the territory.
The PA's behavior is not altogether surprising, considering
the circumstances under which it was created: The Oslo
accords in 1993 allowed for its creation, along with the
directive that it recognize Israel and eliminate Palestinian
armed groups. For such an entity to be running Gaza is a
troubling prospect at best.
Commentators say the ceasefire may unravel because Hamas has
survived, and because the Israeli army is in Palestine. The
Israelis are very upset that Hamas has survived, and some
Hamas forces will be stationed in positions which ensure
Israel does not take over Palestine.
At some points along the border with Egypt, engagement
between Hamas and Israel is continuing. Also, the bombing of
Lebanon is also continuing but on a smaller scale. And
Israel continues to engage in its land grab in Syria, under
the pretext that it needs a security buffer.
Only the future will reveal Israel's intentions. Thanks to
the United States, it has one of the advanced air forces in
the world, and has not hesitated to use it in the past.
Muslim countries in the region have been verbally
admonishing Israel not to take over Palestine completely or
to stay in Palestine. Saudi Arabia, Qatar, and Jordan have
expressed concern that the ceasefire is not being
implemented even in spirit.
For the war to end, food supplies must be allowed to enter
Palestine, and very little is being allowed in, and then
only via entry points acceptable to the US.
As the date to implement the ceasefire agreement approaches,
Netanyahu is threatening to use nuclear weapons.
Lastly, Trump is about to be inaugurated as 47th President
of the United States. Muslims should not forget that it was
he who declared Jerusalem was the real capital of Israel.
With unqualified U.S. support and the total absence of any
real "red lines," it remains to be seen whether, and for how
long, Israel will adhere to the ceasefire agreement.
World News
Lebanon
Lebanon has a new government. Unfortunately, soon after
coming into office, it was faced with continuing Israeli
bombardment. This is despite the upcoming cease fire
agreement. The Lebanese government's protests for Israel to
stop the bombing have gone unheeded.
Syria
The new Syria has proclaimed that it will take care of all
the religious groups within Syria, and that their rights
will be protected. In the meantime, Israel has been taking
small swathes of land from Syria. And there seems to be
little that Syria can do, except issue condemnatory
statements calling for the Zionist entity to stop its
annexation of Syrian territory.
Russia announced that its ship, anchored in Tartus, in the
western coast of Syria, will remain there for the
foreseeable future. Unfortunately, Muslim governments and
armies appear oblivious to the actions taken by Russia and
their proxies.
Pakistan
January 15 - Pakistan army is sending reinforcements and
supplies to the Shia minority in Parachinar. Its convoys
were ambushed at Thall. Fighting is ongoing. Several trucks
have caught fire. Several are stranded.
January 17 - Former Pakistani Prime Minister Imran Khan was
sentenced to fourteen years in prison on corruption charges.
His wife, Bushra Bibi, was sentenced to seven years. Members
of Khan's PTI party rallied outside the Parliament in
Islamabad. The verdict is broadly viewed a s a means of
silencing Khan, a popular and charismatic leader who had the
support of the masses, and had turned toward Islam in the
later years of his presidency.
United States
The fires in California continue to rage, and have destroyed
the homes of some of the richest people in Los Angeles who
supported the war. Also, there is severe cold weather and
snow in many parts of North America. Is America being
punished for its crimes in the Middle East?
Mayor Adams' Meets Trump
By Sis. 'Aisha
Jamaat al-Muslimeen New York City
On Friday (1/17), Mayor Eric Adams met President-elect Trump
at Trump's Mar-A-Lago, Florida residence. According to Mayor
Adams, the discussion centered on:
The Israel-Hamas ceasefire (as of the writing of this
article) and its impact on public safety.
Bringing manufacturing jobs to New York and
Federal investments within the five New York City
boroughs.
The mayor called the meeting "productive." There are some
people who have speculated that the meeting with Trump was
really about the mayor getting pardon from his five-count
indictment. The mayor claimed that there was no discussion
about his case. He further challenged those critics
questioning his priorities stating that they care more about
politics than people.
Convicted Sex-Offender Weiner is Running Again!
Disgraced New York City Congressman Anthony Weiner is
exploring an opportunity to run for public office again. He
has expressed interest in running for a seat on the city
council in Manhattan's District 2.
It was in 2011 he had to resign from Congress after a
sexting scandal. In 2013, a new scandal involving his
sending sexually explicit content to more women spoiled his
mayoral run. But, when the FBI announced they were
investigating Weiner for sending lewd content to a
15-year-old girl, in 2016, he was convicted and had a nearly
two-year prison stay. He also is also a registered sex
offender.
It was Weiner's sexually-deviant behavior that led to
problems for Hilary Clinton's presidential campaign. Anthony
Weiner was married to top Clinton aide and former wife: Huma
Abedin. His involvement with a minor opened up another
investigation into Clinton's campaign just one week before
the election and many democrats believe that led to Donald
Trump's being elected.
More contrite ex-convicts, who have served more time for
lesser crimes, have to struggle to feed themselves and their
loved ones as they are turned away from potential employers
because of their criminal records. Yet, a registered sex
offender such as Weiner has his own talk show on AM radio
and may even hold a political seat next year.

Prophet (SAW): "Allah will Alleviate Sufferings on 'Yawm Ad-Din'"
Abu Huraira (R.A.) reported:
PROPHET ﷺ~ as saying...
' He who alleviates the suffering of a brother
out of the sufferings of the world...
Allah would alleviate his suffering
from the sufferings of the Day of Resurrection.
~ and he who finds relief for one who is
hard pressed...
Allah would make things easy for him
in the Hereafter {!}
and he who conceals (the faults) of a Muslim,
Allah would conceal his faults
in the World and in the Hereafter {!}
ALLAH is at the back of a servant
so long as the servant is at the back of his brother .
and he who treads the path in search of knowledge,
Allah would make that part easy leading to
Paradise for him...
Those people who assemble in the house among
the houses of ALLAH ('Masjids')
and recite the Book of Allah
and they learn and teach the 'Qur'an'...
there would descend upon them the
Tranquility and Mercy would cover them,
and the Angels would surround them...
and Allah makes a mention of them
in the presence of those near Him{!}
{Alhamdulillah}
and he who is slow-paced in doing good deeds~
his (high) descent does not make him go ahead.'
