Eid Mubarak to all our readers.

Many, or most, Muslims don't know that Eid al-Adha also requires Local Sighting.
by Kaukab Siddique, PhD

Most Muslim imams in America do not know that Hajj and Eid al-Adha are separate and distinct events.

So these imams simply call someone in Makka about the day of Hajj and announce in their mosques that that is the day of Eid al-Adha.

Does the Qur'an say that Eid al-Adha should be on the day of Hajj? No ! Check the Qur'an!

Did the Prophet, pbuh, check the day of Hajj before he proclaimed Eid al-Adha? No!

Did the sahaba, r.a., [any of them!] check Hajj for Eid al-Adha? No! What about Tabbain and Tabba Tabain? Again NO!

Was it not possible for the Prophet, pbuh, to send someone to Makka to find out about Hajj day? It was. After all there are 10 days between first and 10th of Zulhijjah. Even by camel that is doable. No he did not.

So how did the Prophet, pbuh, decide about Eid al-Adha? By sighting the crescent, just as he did for Eid al-Fitr. [See Sahih hadith in Bukhari.]

So local sighting is required? Absolutely!

May Allah forgive our sins and shortcomings.

Powerful Khutba at Masjid in Baltimore

July 8

El-Hajj Mauri' Saalakhan, the director of the Aafia Foundation was the guest khateeb at Masjid Jamaat al-Muslimeen's juma'ah on the Day of Arafat.

His topic was
"When Abandonment Leads to Oppression."

Br. Mauri invoked Frederick Douglass' speech
"What to the Slave is the Fourth of July."

He went on to talk about the Islamic responsibility of standing for justice, in a time of wanton police shootings of Black men and women.

He also spoke at length about the Aafia Siddiqui case, including his visit to Pakistan and his meeting with Aafia's mother, Ismat, now recently deceased

 News within the US

Somalis are no Longer Fooled by Ilhan Omar's Head Cover. She has accepted Democratic Party "Values."
Booed by 10,000 Somalis.

...Logically, Omar being the first naturalized citizen of African birth and first Somali American elected to the U.S. Congress would warrant an enthusiastic response from the crowd.

Especially in her own district.

But there are other facts to consider. Minneapolis is home to the largest Somali immigrant population in the nation, and that demographic is almost entirely Muslim. In fact, Islam is the religion of more than 99% of Somalia's population.

As a radical "Squad" member, Omar is about as far from the beliefs of the vast majority of the world's Muslims as one can be. After the Supreme Court overturned Roe v. Wade, the congresswoman slammed the "right-wing court" for ending women's "autonomy over their bodies."

The Muslim representative is also a staunch supporter of LGBT causes, which regularly brings harsh online criticism from other followers of Islam.

Republican candidate Shukri Abdirahman, who is also a Somali refugee and an Army veteran, may have tweeted the best explanation for the angry crowd's reaction to Omar.

The derisive response is the result of her "trading her Godly, Conservative values for the sinful LGBT's & the promiscuous abortionists." Ouch.

Progressives believe they are entitled to immigrant votes because of their liberal credentials. But the fact remains that most in that community do not share radicals' permissive ideology, and Saturday night in Minneapolis was a glaring example of a "leader" completely out of touch with her community.

'As-Salaam Alaikum Wa-Rahmatullahi Wa-Barakatuhu'.

"...a white has no superiority over black nor does a black have any superiority over a white except by piety and good action."

*PROPHET* (ﷺ) FAREWELL 'KHUTBAH'.
{ خطبة الوداع, Khutbatu l-Wada'}
{ 9 Dhul Hijjah 10 AH at Mount Arafat }

in the year 10 A.H.
The farewell pilgrimage to Mecca is one of the most significant historical events in the minds of Muslims, for it was the first and last pilgrimage performed by Prophet(ﷺ) as well as being the model for performing the fifth pillar of Islam, 'Hajj'.
Prophet (ﷺ) final sermon was delivered during the Hajj of the year 632 C.E., the ninth day of 'Dhul Hijjah', the 12th month of the lunar year, at 'Arafat', the most blessed day of the year.
There were numerous Muslims present with the Prophet(ﷺ) during his last pilgrimage when he delivered his last 'Khutbah'.
Prophet(ﷺ) completed his last 'Khutbah', near the summit of 'Arafat', whereby the following revelation came down...

'This day I have perfected for you your religion and completed My favor upon you and have approved for you Islam as your religion.'

{Source~ Qur`an~ Surat Ma`idah ~5. A # 3}

Even today, the last 'Khutbah' of Prophet (ﷺ) is passed to every Muslim in every corner of the world through all possible means of communication. Muslims are reminded of it in 'Masjids and in lectures. Indeed the meanings found in this sermon are astounding, touching upon some of the most important rights Allah Almighty has over humanity, and humanity has over each other.
Though the Prophet's soul (peace be upon him) has left this world, his words are still living in our hearts.
After praising and thanking Allah...
Prophet (ﷺ) said...
"O People, lend me an attentive ear, for I know not whether after this year, I shall ever be amongst you again.
Therefore listen to what I am saying to you very carefully and TAKE THESE WORDS TO THOSE WHO COULD NOT BE PRESENT HERE TODAY.
O People, just as you regard this month, this day, this city as sacred, so regard the life and property of every Muslim as a sacred trust.
Return the goods entrusted to you to their rightful owners. Hurt no one so that no one may hurt you. Remember that you will indeed meet your Lord, and that He will indeed reckon your deeds. Allah has forbidden you to take usury (interest); therefore all interest obligations shall henceforth be waived.
Your capital, however, is yours to keep. You will neither inflict nor suffer any inequity. Allah has judged that there shall be no interest and that all the interest due to Abbas ibn Abdul Muttalib (the Prophet's (ﷺ) uncle) shall henceforth be waived...
Beware of Satan, for the safety of your religion,
he has lost all hope that he will ever be able to lead you astray in big things, so beware of following him in small things.
O People, it is true that you have certain rights with regard to your women, but they also have rights over you. Remember that you have taken them as your wives only under Allah's trust and with His permission. If they abide by your right then to them belongs the right to be fed and clothed in kindness. Do treat your women well and be kind to them for they are your partners and committed helpers. And it is your right that they do not make friends with any one of whom you do not approve, as well as never to be unchaste.
O People, listen to me in earnest----
'worship Allah, perform your five daily prayers ('Salah'), fast during the month of Ramadan, and give your wealth in 'Zakat' (alms giving). Perform 'Hajj' if you can afford it.
All mankind is from Adam and Eve, an Arab has no superiority over a non-Arab nor a non-Arab has any superiority over an Arab; also a white has no superiority over black nor does a black have any superiority over a white except by piety and good action. Learn that every Muslim is a brother to every Muslim and that the Muslims constitute one brotherhood. Nothing shall be legitimate to a Muslim which belongs to a fellow Muslim unless it was given freely and willingly. Do not, therefore, do injustice to yourselves.
Remember, one day you will appear before Allah and answer for your deeds. So beware, do not stray from the path of righteousness after I am gone.
O People, no prophet or apostle will come after me and no new faith will be born.
Reason well, therefore, O People, and understand words which I convey to you. I leave behind me two things, the QUR`AN and my example, the SUNNAH and if you follow these you will never go astray.
All those who listen to me shall pass on my words to others and those to others again; and may the last ones understand my words better than those who listen to me directly. Be my witness, O Allah, that I have conveyed your message to your people".

Some of the Greatest Muslims were once Enemies of Islam.

Events of 13 hijri from Khalid ibn al-Waleed, r.a. Historic victory at Yarmuk which changed the map of the Middle East.

Muslims are in a new day with the retreat of a superpower from Afghanistan. The superpower panicked leaving a million items behind, forgot to tell their allies, didnt even turn the lights off and looters picked up their goods.

Let us go back to three years after the Prophet, pbuh, passed away. The Byzantine Christians thought the Muslims would be weak as the Prophet, pbuh, had passed away. They sent a huge army towards Madina to destroy Islam at its root.

Abu Bakr, r.a., the first righteous Caliph, sent Khalid, r.a., to command the Muslim counterattack.

Khalid's, r.a., first achievement was to unite the Muslim army, instead of each glorifying its own tribe. Most of these were new into Islam.

He introduced 1000 sahaba of the Prophet, pbuh, into the force but it was still only 15,000 opposed to 200, 000 Byazantine Christians,

Khalid, r.a., gave da'wah to one of the Christian commanders named Gerges. He made these points:

All Muslims are equal and their faith and efforts alone count.

All previous sins are wiped out by acceptance of Islam.

Jihad is based on sacrifices, not on miracles. It is wrong to think that Allah had sent down a sword to Khalid. He was called sword of Allah by the Prophet, pbuh, because of his frontline striving in the way of Allah.

He himself had been a wrong doer, even fighting the prophet, pbuh, himself but he realized as follows: Revelation came to the Prophet, pbuh, from Allah. The Prophet, pbuh, was not doing anything for his personal benefit. He was not a king but a messenger of Truth.

A newcomer into Islam who becomes a Muslim even though there is no prophet, pbuh, in this world, and no revelation coming down, is doubly blessed and if sincere is going to paradise.

Gerges embraced Islam. He made only two rakats of nafl prayer with Khalid's help, before the battle resumed. Gerges fought hard for Islam and was shaheed., going straight to al-Jannah.

So al-Jannah is not based on scholarship but on sincere. acceptance of Allah and the ultimate shahada.

First hadith in Sahih Bukhari: 'Actions are based on intentions."

The huge Christian onslaught forced the Muslims back to their base camp. Muslim WOMEN came out and joined the struggle and warned the men not to come back if they retreated..

The sahaba led the struggle, with Khalid, r.a., in the frontline.

Ikrima, r.a., the son of Abu Jahl, the worst enemy of Islam, fought for Islam and was shaheed, as was his son. So father was kafir and son and grandson are the pride of Islam.

The conventional ideas of "family" are repugnant to Islam. {Abraham's father too was a kafir.]

Abu Sufian, r.a., came late into Islam but at Yarmuk, he was in the frontlines reciting the Qur'an and urging Muslims to give everything for Islam. He was seriously injured.

Finally the Byzantine Christian army was routed and the Muslims slaughtered them by the tens of thousands and chased the fleeing enemy for five days.

During the battle, news came from Madina that the righteous Caliph, Abu Bakr, r.a., had passed away. Khalid, concealed, the news till the victory.

So, don't spread news which would dishearten ordinary soldiers.

Dear Muslims, using peaceful means, let us give the message of Islam to the people of America. Don't fight anyone who is not fighting us.
