Verse of the Week
"O you who believe! do not violate the signs appointed by
Allah nor the sacred month, nor interfere with the
offerings, nor the sacrificial animals with garlands, nor
those going to the sacred house seeking the grace and
pleasure of their Lord; and when you are free from the
obligations of the pilgrimage, then hunt, and let not the
hatred of people - because they hindered you from the Sacred
Masjid - incite you to exceed the limits, and help one
another in goodness and piety, and do not help one another
in sin and aggression; and be careful of your duty to Allah;
surely Allah is severe in requiting evil."
-Holy Qur'an 5:2

Great News: Muslims Rallying to the Defense of Ayesha
Siddiqa [r.a]
By Br. Kaukab Siddique
"Those who slander chaste, indiscreet and believing women,
are cursed in this life and in the Hereafter. For them is a
grievous Chastisement." (The Qur'an 24:23)
Saudi Arabia's top religious authority, Darul Ifta, last
month issued a FATWA condemning attacks on the Mother of the
Believers, the daughter of Abu Bakr, r.a., the beloved wife
of Muhammad, pbuh, Ayesha Siddiqa, r.a.
The FATWA came after a Shi'ite from Kuwait attacked Ayesha,
r.a. He is living under British protection in London. Many
Shi'as have been slandering Ayesha, r.a., probably because
she opposed the problematic caliphate of Ali, r.a., but this
time the Saudis responded. We congratulate and thank
them.
The angry responses throughout the Middle East to the
Kuwaiti Shi'ite's attack on the best of women after Maryam,
r.a., alerted the Iranians, and Ayatollah Khamene'i issued a
ruling forbidding Shi'as from attacking Ayesha, r.a. This is
hopeful news. Hopefully the Sh'ites will listen to the
Ayatollah.
I urge the Muslims to look at the Zionists and right wing
extremists who routinely insult Ayesha, r.a., and slander
the Prophet, pbuh, in the process. These enemies of Islam,
the Zionist Jews, are indulging in blasphemy against Ayesha,
r.a., which no Muslim can tolerate. It is an attack on all
Muslim women whose leader is Ayesha, r.a., the Mother of the
Believers.
Ayesha, r.a., orator, poet, teacher, scholar, narrator of
Hadith, saintly in her behavior, pious to the extreme,
generous without limits, leader of men and women, is the
target of the enemies of Islam and sectarians of various
brands.
This assault on a woman, whom the Qur'an extols, was begun
by Salman Rushdie, the darling of many American Jews. To the
Shi'ites, I would say, Ali, r.a., whipped those who insulted
Ayesha, r.a. If you are real Shi'ites, whip those among you
who are insulting our Mother. If those countless millions
who honor Ayesha, r.a., turn against Shi'ites, your
situation will be untenable.

Innocent Muslims have little Awareness of Zionist Moves
On November 12 at Masjid Nur, Jamaat al-Muslimeen's
literature was given to 51 people after Juma' salat. There
were 4 pages including Dr. Shabazz' brilliant analysis of
Zionism as a form of racism plus the Islamic Shoora's
resolutions against Israel and on opposition to US wars
against Pakistan, Iraq and Afghanistan. One resolution
rejects censorship of holocaust revisionism. Sis. Nadrat's
introduction to Sis. Karima al-Amin's interview was included
with a referral to the full text on the New Trend web
site.
The last page reported on Jamaate Islami Pakistan's expose
of Obama's visit to India.
This Masjid is located in White Marsh, 15 minutes south of
Baltimore. The imam is a soft spoken Syrian who puts people
to sleep with his morality stories. He has a track record of
not speaking against kuffar and oppressors. Most of the
crowd is Arab, very quiet, with a sprinkling of Pakistanis
and a very few African Americans.

"Take the Qur'an for Guidance in all Matters"
A Talk with Islamic School Students
On November 7, the day after the Shoora, Imam Badi Ali
invited Dr. Kaukab Siddique and Sis. Kristi to speak to
young people at the Islamic Sunday School in Greensboro,
North Carolina. Both the senior and junior classes consisted
of students from various Middle Eastern countries.
Br. Kaukab talked to the students about the role of young
people in the life of the Prophet, pbuh, and in the
narration of Hadith. He gave examples from the lives of Ali,
Ayesha, Abdullah ibn Zubair, Abdullah ibn Umar, Abdullah ibn
Abbas (Allah be pleased with them all) to show the
importance of the very young people in Islam. He also gave
them examples to show how persuasive is America's mass
culture and how it targets youths and makes them slowly
drift away from Islam.
The students were enthusiastic about Sis. Kristi's
presentation. A recent convert to Islam from Texas, she is
well versed in the Bible and excited about the Qur'an. Sis.
Kristi urged the students to rely on the Qur'an for truth
and encouraged them to reaffirm what they're told about
Islam by searching the Qur'an and authentic Hadith to ensure
accuracy. Sometimes, she said, people who teach about Islam
take for granted that they know Islam but do not take the
time to show their students supporting texts. In reply to
questions, she supported the duty of parents to be strict
and to teach their children obedience to Islam so their
lives can be shaped Islamically at a very early age,
including hijab. Without discipline, the best outcome is not
possible. She concluded by saying that although we may not
understand or even agree with all of the 'rules' of Islam,
Allah knows best and we must believe He has given us right
guidance, and our belief is displayed in our obedience.

Jamaat al-Muslimeen Congratulates Imam Badi Ali on
Organizing Successful National Islamic Shoora
The November meeting of Jamaat al-Muslimeen's Islamic Shoora
Council was held in Greensboro, NC. The host was Imam Badi
Ali. He is imam of an important mosque in the area. He has
an effective team of workers and is influential in the
Muslim community.
The arrangements were efficient and discounted by local
Muslim businesses. The halal meals were delicious, and
included Moroccan and Palestinian cuisine. The prayers were
on time and led by Dr. Abdulalim Shabazz, the philosopher of
the Jamaat who also recited verses from the Qur'an for the
concluding d'ua.
Imam Badi Ali is a human rights activist who wants a
peaceful solution to the problems facing the Muslim ummah.
He is anti-war and is a strong critic of Zionism and
imperialism. He carries out in depth critique of US foreign
policy. He is trusted and loved by the Muslim community in
the area owing to his total commitment to service and
compassionate outreach.
Owing to the countrywide Zionist and right wing extremist
attacks on Br. Kaukab Siddique, Imam Badi insisted on and
received near full attendance by the Shoora members for this
meeting. Jamaat al-Muslimeen congratulates him and his team
for their hard work in bringing together a successful
Shoora.

What are Spiritual Requirements and Character Needed for
Islamic Work?
At the National Islamic Shoora of JAM, November 6, Br.
Shamim Siddiqui's books were gifted to the Shoora activists.
Sixty copies of these books were handed out by the activist
and elder Sis. Ashira, Secretary General, on behalf of JAM's
masjid in Baltimore. The titles of seven of these books
are:
Dawah and Its Objective
Methodology of Dawah
The Revival
Greatest Need of Man
The Commitment
The Dawah program
Provision for Akhirah
(This is a translation of the Arabic
classic Zaad al-Ma'ad)
Br. Shamim Siddiqui is an elderly scholar from what used to
be East Pakistan. He lives in Long Island, New York. As far
as we know, he has done more Da'wa work in America than
anyone else. He has produced a whole range of literature
which is very valuable in spite of some technical errors and
typos.
Bogus Trial of JFK "terrorists."
Two Muslims Trapped by Informant, Convicted.
Jamaat al-Muslimeen's Shoora has been informed of the bogus
trial of Defrietas and Abdul Kadir who were entrapped by an
informant into what came to be known as Jfk plot.
The story is like a bad joke. The informant, Stevan Francis,
infiltrated the Muslims and made the Muslims say things
which could be construed to mean that they wanted to attack
JFK International airport.
How anyone could blow up an airport, when he has no military
training, was actually believed by the American court. The
two have been convicted and face life in prison.
A third Muslim is yet to be convicted in the same case. They
are good Shi'ite Muslims and wanted to get help from Iran to
set up schools. That is their real crime.
"Genocide means any of the following acts committed with
intent to destroy, in whole or in part, a national,
ethnical, racial, or religious group: ....Causing serious
bodily or mental harm to members of the group; Deliberately
inflicting on the group conditions of life calculated to
bring about its physical destruction in whole or in part..."

Youth Justice Sunday
By Nadrat Siddique
October 31, 2010
Baltimore, MD-It was the perfect day to break some chains.
Hundreds of people rallied outside Paul Lawrence Dunbar High
School, in the heart of black community and just blocks away
from Baltimore's infamous Central Booking detention
facility. They were protesting the building of a new youth
prison. If construction goes on as planned, this would be
the city's ninth prison, built absent any mandate from the
majority black population. But Baltimore's prison building
rampage would not end there. Plans are underway for the
subsequent building of a tenth prison, this one for women.
Under a fluttering red, black, and green Afrocentric flag,
religious, student and community leaders condemned the
city's plan to jail the youth instead of educating them. The
event began with the singing of the Black Anthem "Lift Every
Voice." Then Deverick Murray, a Towson University student,
popularly known as the Political Poet, took the stage.
Stating the rally's goals in verse, he said:
"I greet you today and bring you our purpose,
Assuring you that under this alliance not one thing can hurt
us.
With steadfast hearts, and no distractions may divert us.
We are here today not only to stop this youth jail,
But to convince us, to construct plans
Knowing that if God, Allah, and the elders are here,
Then the world can be against us.
We are here to let the state know we have ran out of fear
And showing that we will stand together to protect what we
hold dear.
We are here because they had enough money for jails,
But they had no interest in making sure that we don't
fail...."
Youth energies fueled the protest. Leamon Harris, of Leaders
of a Beautiful Struggle, which organized the protest along
with the Kinetics Faith and Justice Network, the Baltimore
Algebra Project, and other groups, said that even the best
inner city schools were a continuum of institutionalized
racism. Speaking of black student athletes, he said "They
become slaves to the brands at a young age because they are
mentally colonized, helping a government that doesn't
support them or their people unless they play the game. What
if they stopped playing football or basketball until
construction of the youth jail was stopped, or the police
officers taken out of the schools, or classes that offered a
real discussion of black history put in place?"
Deverick Murray wrote a powerful rap in support of the
event, entitled "I'll be Damned" (referring to the resolve
of the protest organizers against the locking up of the
youth). It circulated broadly on Facebook and elsewhere
leading up to the event. Murray, Harris, and Towson
University student leader Adam Jackson successfully
mobilized large numbers of high school and college students
for the protest.
The event was emceed by its chief organizer, Afrocentric
pastor and community leader Heber Brown. Brown is known for
his courageous and outspoken stance on many issues, and has
spoken at rallies against Israeli attacks on Gaza.
A few days prior to Youth Justice Sunday, Pastor Brown and
two companions stood with megaphones outside an endorsement
party hosted by a local chapter of AFSME [a major U.S. labor
union—editor] for Mayor O'Malley. As O'Malley passed, they
called out: "Gov. O'Malley, what about the $104 million
dollar youth jail? Can you speak to that sir? Yeah back to
slavery for black children?" An AFSME representative
approached the pastor, and wagging his finger at him, told
Brown he was being "tacky" by challenging the governor.
Since the pastor and his companions had officially been
invited to the endorsement party, they went inside. Once
inside, they were cornered by the AFSME director and his
assistants, and threateningly ordered to leave the building.
At the rally, it was clear that the Pastor was not fazed by
the gestapo tactics. Youth Justice Sunday, he proclaimed,
was about self-determination for black people.
Delegate Jill Carter, the rare local politician who'd
accepted Pastor Brown's invitation to speak, took her turn
at the mic. Jared Ball, of Voxunion—a D.C.-based independent
media collective—spoke. In the audience were Maria Allwine,
Green Party candidate for Maryland governor; Jack Young,
City Council president; and Dr. Ray Winbush of Morgan State
University, internationally acclaimed reparations activist
and author,
Then Min. Carlos Muhammad came to the stage.
He is Louis Farrakhan's Baltimore representative, based out
of Muhammad Mosque No. 1. The mosque is located on the 3200
block of Garrison Boulevard. Much of the boulevard is
impoverished, a showcase of slums (Indians and Pakistanis
are amongst the biggest slum lords), liquor stores
(frequently Arab owned), and cheesy corner markets (Korean
owners, with their exorbitantly priced goods, hidden behind
protective bars). The mosque has worked to uplift area youth
for years, ridding the neighborhood of much of its vice. But
a mile or so down the road from the mosque, drugs, alcohol,
and prostitution are rampant.
The minister accompanied on stage by his wife and two FOI
(Fruit of Islam), greeted the people with "As-salaam
alaikom." He asked for a show of hands by those who had a
family member, close friend, or loved one in prison. Easily
two-thirds of the crowd raised their hands. With the air of
a battle-hardened warrior, he offered words of encouragement
to the crowd before leaving the stage.
Six Baltimore Algebra Project youth took the stage.
The Algebra Project is a youth advocacy group which provides
highly effective peer-to-peer tutoring for inner city youth.
But BAP doesn't only tutor. When I moved back to Baltimore
around 2002, I was astonished to find very young students
from the organization blocking the streets to call attention
to the glaring disparities within the education system and
racism in the schools. They were articulate, organized,
disciplined, and unrelenting in their demands.
The youth began with solemn speeches, holding the complete
attention of the crowd. Then, three of them broke into
melodic chants: "Don't build it, don't build it, O' Malley
check the rally." Red "X"s, plastered on the jackets of
Algebra Project members and supporters, swayed gently to the
melody. One of BAP's talented young hiphop artists
performed. It was dusk, and the crowd seemed energized.
Adam Jackson, Towson University student and Leaders of a
Beautiful Struggle activist, spoke briefly. Then Rev. Kinji
Scott, told the crowd, "We tired of
being shoved around! Are you ready? You ain't ready! If
you're ready, follow me!"
Scott, Jackson, Murray, and others led the march to the site
of the proposed youth prison, chanting "Educate, don't
incarcerate!" The procession stretched for several blocks,
finally arriving at a vacant lot, encircled by a fence—the
site of the proposed youth prison. A sign read "State
Property."
In a dramatic action, reminiscent of the Storming of the
Bastille, student activists pushed with their bodies against
the entry gate. To the crowd chants of, "Break that lock,"
they used the wire
cutters to weaken and finally break the padlock holding the
gate shut.
A small number of protestors flooded through the gate. March
organizers blared a warning over the megaphone: no one was
to enter the fenced area without having completed civil
disobedience training. The activists inside the fence joined
hands in a solemn prayer. They intended to be arrested to
call attention to the city's funding of prison building over
education. It was Sunday, and the civil disobedience action
was taking place directly across from an existing prison
facility. The protestors awaiting arrest waited. And waited.
And waited. For once, the police were nowhere in sight.
Realizing the civil disobedience was not to materialize, the
organizers gathered up the signs carried by the procession.
Determined their message be heard, they symbolically
scattered books across the property, and with some effort,
hammered placards bearing the words "Educate, don't
incarcerate!" into the rocky ground. Then, against the
backdrop of Central Booking's fading red brick and barbwire,
they held a brief press conference before departing.
On the empty lot slated to cage the children of the poor,
the pages of books fluttered in the wind.
Epilogue
Islam says, "Free the slave." References to "freeing
captives" abound in the Qur'an. To me, Islam is synonymous
with justice, and it is not justice to jail a man because he
is hungry and stole a loaf of bread. Or lock up a youth who
delivers a few ounces of marijuana across town to pay his
mother's rent. I know of grocery stores located near the
projects where armed security officers guard the exits. This
country hates poor people, and is willing to kill or at
least jail them for stealing food. Islam, known for its
stringent justice, exempts exactly one category of person
from sharia penalties for theft: the person who is hungry or
starving. Prisons were unknown during the time of the
Prophet Muhammad (PBUH). Ditto during the reign of the four
rightly guided caliphs—Abu Bakr (RA), Umar (RA), Uthman
(RA), and Ali (RA)—which followed immediately after. A
person who violated social norms was banished from society,
ostracized for a limited time, or in the case of a very
serious crime, subjected to a one-time harsh punishment. He
was not indefinitely placed in a tiny, insect-infested,
filthy, overcrowded, freezing cell, to be sodomized, treated
like an animal, or forced to urinate and defecate in front
of others. Nor was his labor used to profit big business. Of
the vast number of hadith (narrations of Prophetic
tradition) in circulation, virtually none talk about locking
up or harshly punishing children.
The U.S. boasts 7.3 million people in jail, on probation, or
on parole at year end—one in every 31 adults. 2.3 million
people are held in adult prison or jail (including some
children). In addition, 92,800 children are held in juvenile
detention centers. The rate of Black incarceration is 2,468
per 100,000 persons. For Whites, that rate is 409 per
100,000. So, Black youth are far more likely to be locked up
than Whites. And unless one subscribes to some incredibly
antiquated, racist, and scientifically invalid theories, it
can't be because one group is inherently more criminal than
the other.
Imperial AmeriKKKa, which sends its armadas throughout the
world teaching others how to live, needs desperately to
rethink a system which is clearly unjust, for injustice
cannot be indefinitely sustained. Just as Gaza is one vast
prison camp for Palestinians, Baltimore [substitute
virtually any major U.S. city here] through its
School-to-Prison pipeline, is the slave labor pool for the
Prison-Industrial complex. But not, inshallah, if Leaders of
a Beautiful Struggle, Kinetics Faith and Justice Network,
and the Baltimore Algebra Project have their way.

Police Hold Islamic Women at Gunpoint, Harass Imam Musa
November 11 Al-Sabiqun Press Release
Many of us are aware of disturbing incidents involving
police forces in the U.S. Many times, their brutality goes
unnoticed and undocumented, but every once in a while, the
heinous crimes committed by those who've sworn to "uphold
the public safety" are brought to light.
On the afternoon of November 3, 2010, DC police, for no
stated reason, held at gunpoint two Muslim sisters, both of
whom are respected teachers in our Southeast DC Islamic
home-schooling co-op (based at Masjid Al-Islam)--one of whom
was Imam Musa's wife. Though neither of the sisters were
taken in, Imam Musa was called onto the scene and, after
bringing public attention to the blatant harassment of the
two sisters, was arrested. Though he was released later in
the evening, this incident has brought to the surface
several months and years of harassment and pestering carried
out by the local police on behalf of "higher powers". After
the incident, Imam Musa prepared an open letter to the DC
police, which was posted on police cars and distributed to
local residents.
On a related noted, only a few days after the incident with
the DC police, Imam Musa was coincidentally (by Allah's
will) featured on an RT news piece in which he was asked to
comment on the killing of 22-year old Oscar Grant in
Oakland, CA, at the hands of a BART (Bay Area Rapid Transit)
police officer who was recently sentenced. On January 1,
2009, Grant was shot and killed by Johannes Mehserle while
he was lying restrained on a train platform. The shooting
was captured on several cell phone cameras and the footage
is widely available on the Internet. A few days ago, on
November 5, 2010, Mehserle was sentenced to two years, minus
time served.
Aga Khan: The Snake in the Grass
Ismaili Leader working for Acceptance of Israel by
Shi'as
Syrian Ruler is a Shi'ite
Aga Khan's interview published in the French journal
Politique International [Spring 2010, issue # 127] has been
translated into English and published on the Aga Khani web
site Simerg.
The Aga Khan claims in the interview that Shi'as must accept
Israel and that this acceptance is a requirement for peace.
He specifically mentions Shi'as in Iraq, Bahrain and Lebanon
and notes that Bashar al-Assad is a Shi'ite. He concludes
that French President Sarkozy is on this wave length.

I think you should update your resume and in\" Areas of

don\'t you direct your efforts and expertise to your country

What Dr. Siddique said about Israel is Accurate.
[A lot of hate mail was received, mostly from Jews, but
there has been a growing flow of supportive mail. Here is
one sent by a Palestinian to Dr. Nelson, President of
Lincoln, with a copy to Dr. Siddique.]
President Nelson,
I would like to thank you for standing up for Professor
Siddique, a courageous man with integrity and intellectual
honesty. As a Palestinian-American born and raised in
Washington DC, I am very happy to see free speech protected,
especially when this free speech is supported by facts.
Israel is a racist apartheid nation in clear violation of
many UN resolutions and International Laws pertaining to
their illegal occupation of Palestinian land. Everything
Professor Siddique mentioned with regards to Israel is
accurate and well documented by the UN, World Court, Red
Cross, and many human rights organizations around the world.
The good news to report is that more and more people are now
realizing that Israel has become a political and economic
liability for America. Once again, thank you very much for
standing up for this great professor and please do not
surrender to the zionist pro-war media people.

Hizb-ut-Tahrir Rallies Across the Country for Caliphate
By Naveed Butt [Official Spokesman of Hizb-ut-Tahrir]
Hizb ut-Tahrir conducted dozens of 'Khilafah Rallies' and
demos throughout the country; thousands attended. Seven
activists were arrested.
The purpose of rallies was to make the people and people of
power realize that real change is only possible through
Khilafah
According to its announced campaign, Hizb ut-Tahrir
conducted more than forty Khilafah rallies on 5th of
November in all major cities, including Peshawar, Islamabad,
Lahore, Rahim Yar Khan, Multan and Karachi which were
attended by thousands of people. Despite tight security
enforced by the government, the brave shebab of Hizb
ut-Tahrir conducted protests in Musjid-e-shuhada area
Lahore, Blue Area Islamabad, near Press Club Peshawar and
Jahangir Park Karachi.
Yesterday, the government arrested three activists of Hizb
ut-Tahrir whilst today four more activists of Rawalpindi
were taken. It is worthy of mention that right at the time
of Jummah, when Hizb ut-Tahrir was about to conduct rallies,
a blast took place in a mosque of Darra Adam Kheil, which
served to distraction for the media. This is not the first
time that the government and US private agencies have
conducted such underhand activities in order to divert the
attention of people and media.
However Hizb wants to tell the government and America that
whatever they do, the call of Khilafah is growing day by day
and the day is not far when the radiant sun of Khilafah will
arise and will shine upon the whole world. Today's rallies
have played an important role in giving direction to the
Ummah's deep rooted desire for real and actual change. The
Ummah realizes that real change does not occur with changes
in faces alone and there will never be real change until the
Capitalist system is uprooted and Khilafah is established in
its place. Hizb ut-Tahrir demands from the Pakistan Army
that it fulfills its Shari obligation in the dire situation
that Pakistan faces and may Allah grant Hizb ut-Tahrir the
Nussrah to establish the rightly guided Khilafah.

General Musharraf Exposed by Hizb-ut-Tahrir: USA's Paki
General
Last month a rally was held in England to expose General
Musharraf. Here is the statement of Taji Mustafa, media rep
of Hizb-ut-Tahrir:
"The purpose of our demonstration against Musharraf is
clear: to expose a man who is no less a slave of America
than Zardari who he seeks to replace. He is the man who sold
Dr Aafia Siddiqui to the USA; the man who supported
America's war against the Muslims of Afghanistan; the man
who did America's bidding in Waziristan and the Lal Masjid;
the man who fuelled bitter divisions within Pakistan; the
man who allowed US security forces - the FBI, CIA,
Blackwater-Xe and others - into Pakistan."
"Unsurprisingly, Musharraf is being paraded to Birmingham's
Muslims by Khalid Mahmood MP who supported the war in Iraq
and Afghanistan and draconian anti-terror laws."
"For the last two years, Musharraf has lived a millionaire
lifestyle in London, frequenting the luxurious restaurants
and hotels, something unaffordable to most generals on a
pension. Yet people are expected to think that he is somehow
less corrupt than Zardari or Nawaz Sharif." "Pakistan does
not need the same old recycled corrupt slaves of America and
Britain - democrats and dictators alike - exploiting the
people, neglecting their needs and oppressing them."

Pakistan and was in the Behsud area of Nangarhar province.
After the guards escaped, the Taliban torched 12 of the
tankers. (The BBC showed the tankers in flames.)
Chopper shot down. The same day, Taliban shot down a US
helicopter in Kunar province.
The US admitted that 65 NATO troops were killed in October
and 28 in the first two weeks of November and has claimed 15
Taliban killed. The US gives no details of the fighting and
in some cases refuses to identify the nationalities of the
troops killed. In one attack, the Taliban killed General
Kelly's son, a junior officer.
NPR gave an eyewitness account in which a martyrdom operator
killed two U.S. troops and wounded 3. The soldiers were
terrified because they sensed the villagers were against
them. The troops had been told that they were fighting FOR
the Afghan people! (Believe it or not.) (National Public
Radio, Nov. 11)
Iranian Game:
Karzai, installed by the US, guarded by US contractors,
admitted that he has been receiving $2 million every year
from Iran in CASH. Also, the Iranian consulate has been set
up in Herat almost next door to the US consulate though the
city is under US-Karzai military control. Shi'ite students
are being educated in schools set up by Iran. (Source: Los
Angeles Times, November 13.)
