Important News: The Tragedy of Nahr al-Bared: Lebanese Army Tries to destroy Fatah al-Islam

Latest news: May 24, 2007. CNN reports, U.S. planes will be landing in Lebanon on May 25 and 26 with resupply for the Lebanese army related to the ammunition it has used to attack the Islamic Group located in the Palestinian refugee camp near Tripoli.

A new Islamic fighting force emerged in Lebanon. For 4 days, the Lebanese army has been trying to destroy the Fatah al-Islam movement located in a Palestinian refugee camp outside the northern city of Tripoli. President Bush blessed the attack on Fatah al-Islam and looks like the Lebanese will use overwhelming force to destroy the Islamic group. However the Islamic fighters have defeated three attempts by the army to move into the camp. As a result, the Lebanese army terrorized the population of the camp. The refugees are leaving in large numbers and the army now hopes that its support base having been removed, the Fatah al-Islam will be isolated and finished off.

The emergence of Fatah al-Islam is significant. It means that a mainstream Islamic movement has picked up arms to fight the U.S.-backed government of Lebanon. The Sunnis constitute a signicant part of the population of Lebanon but they have looked unimportant and un-Islamic in their behavior. With Fatah al-Islam, Sunni Islam, which is strongly anti-U.S. and anti-Israel, will be represented with much greater militancy.

Hizbullah has been silent and inactive about the recent Israeli attacks on Gaza. Previously too it has maintained a passive attitude whenever the Israelis have rampaged into Palestinian towns. With Fatah al-Islam, a strategic new factor has emerged. Even if Fatah al-Islam is crushed, the basis of a hardcore Lebanese Islamic movement connected to the resistance in Iraq is a hopeful sign for the Islamic mainstream. The Iranian agenda is quite different from the global Islamic agenda. Hizbullah is honored for its resistance to Israel but it has not shown any tendency to unite with Islamic resistance in Iraq and Afghanistan. Hizbullah had the opportunity to do serious damage to Israeli cities during last year's war but limited itself to firing largely ineffective katyushas.

Many Palestinians wonder why Hizbullah has a cease fire with Israel when Israel is carrying on its war against the Palestinians. The Islamic resistance in Iraq is seen as a positive force in the Muslim world. However, it is opposed not only by the U.S. and Israel but also by Iran which sees it as "wahhabi" and hates its al-Qaidah component.

With Fatah al-Islam, it appears that the Islamic resistance is beginning to spill over from Iraq into other Arab countries beginning with Lebanon.

The panic of the political, anti-Islam, pundits about the emergence of Fatah al-Islam has been caused by the unexpected fighting ability of the Mujahideen. Seymour Hersch is known as an astute political writer, but this time he stumbled and labelled Fatah al-Islam right away. Fisk is usually sharp, but this time he was reduced to conspiracy theories. People noticed that Bush is supporting the push by the Lebanese army but were confused by Israeli, U.S. and Iranian propaganda aimed at Fatah al-Islam.

Jamaat al-Muslimeen Philadelphia Being Organized: Br. Aqeel Takes Oath

At the Shoora council meeting on May 19, Br. Aqeel formally took the oath to join Jamaat al-Muslimeen. He is the organizer of the Jamaat in Philadelphia, inshallah. It's a rough city where people are turning to Islam for answers.
Br. Aqeel knows life in the raw on the streets of this vast city. Tragedy here is commonplace. Murders happen every day. Recently a brother close to Br. Aqeel was shot and killed while he was trying to protect a helpless neighbor.

Inshallah, Jamaat will give direction, unity and organized Islamic effort to the thousands of people embracing Islam in Philadelphia.

Masjid on Mexican Border Planned in Brownsville, Texas

In its May 19 Shoora meeting, Jamaat al-Muslimeen decided to set up a masjid in Brownsville, Texas to serve the spiritual needs of Latinos and Latinas interested in conversion to Islam. The Director of the Masjid program is Br. Sulaiman Solano who is famous for his da'wah activities. He has given the Qur'an in Spanish translation to 500 people.

Literature to obtain support for the Masjid will be sent out in the near future, inshallah.

Jamaat Shoora members Meets Top Representative of Imam Jamil al-Amin

On May 20, 2007, the day after the Shoora meeting, several members of Jamaat's Shoora as well as some observers met Imam Khalil Abdur Rahman, the international representative of America's Imam, Jamil Abdullah al-Amin.

Br. Khalil apprised the group about the latest conditions of Imam Jamil in prison. He discussed the upbeat situation arising from the publication in New Trend of the confession of the man who shot the policemen for which incident Imam Jamil was arrested and imprisoned.

Imam Khalil's speech was deeply inspiring, based as it was on the authentic teachings of Islam. He touched the souls of the listeners.

He thanked Br. Kaukab, Br. Badi Ali and the Jamaat for taking up the struggle to free Imam Jamil.

In Memory of Malcolm X: He stood for total Separation from the Corrupt Power Structure

The National Shoora council of Jamaat al-Muslimeen met in Greensboro on the anniversary of Malcolm X. This was no coincidence. At a time when people who are totally opposed to the mission of Al-Hajj Malik Shabazz have started exploiting his name, we must affirm what he stood for. Here are the key aspects of his heritage which are often forgotten:

America's power structure is oppressive and exploitative. There is no question of compromise with enemies of the people for those who admire Malcolm.
Presidential, Congressional, Senatorial elections are held to justify and legitimize the rule of the exploiters. Democracy is not possble where the resources of the country are in a few hands.
America's internal conditions change only under the impact of powerful overseas events. The Vietnam war made the implementation of Civil Rights possible, otherwise the U.S. was willing to put dogs and water cannons on every protest by Dr. Martin Luther King.
Similarly today the victory of Islamic forces in Iraq and Afghanistan will transform America.
Muslims of America must link up with Makka, the holy city of Islam. It would be a self-defeating exercise to try to create an "American Islam." Malcolm's natural line of progression was to go out of America to Makka. The CAIR-less brand of "American Islam" is a throw back to the era Malcolm wanted to leave behind.
Africa is a Muslim continent. Black America must recognize this fact and not pretend that the essence of Africa, which is Islam, can be ignored or given a fanciful materialistic interpretation. Malcolm's journey to Africa was a recognition of the fact that the slave ancestors of "African-Americans" came out of a Muslim context. Alex Haley, Malcolm's interpretor, found his roots in Gambia, a 100% Muslim country.
Today the Nation of Islam [NOI], Br. Akbar Muhammad, Br. Hodari Ali [GPAC] and others are strengthening Black America's ties with Muslim Africa. That was the ground broken first by Malcolm X.

Iran's 2003 Proposal to US Offered Peace With Israel

Iran offered in 2003 to accept peace with Israel and to cut off material assistance to Palestinian armed groups and pressure them to halt terrorist attacks within Israel's 1967 borders, according to the secret Iranian proposal to the United States. The two-page proposal for a broad Iran-U.S. agreement covering all the issues separating the two countries, a copy of which was obtained by IPS, was conveyed to the United States in late April or early May 2003 ... The two- page document contradicts the official line of the George W. Bush administration that Iran is committed to the destruction of Israel and the sponsorship of terrorism in the region.

What the Pew Report really says: Both CAIR-less and Glen Beck twisted the report

Even in an Official Report, Islamic Dissent shows through

Glen Beck, the clown from CNN, has been tryng to use the report to brand 5% of the Muslims as terrorists. On the the other extreme are the lick spittle, boot licker groups like CAIR-less who claim that most Muslims are happily assimiliated. Remember that if 51% are reported as concerned about "extremism," 49% are on the other side. Thus PEW is contradicting itself. Note its statement and then the statistics. American Muslims are Muslims first [47%] and do not oppose "extremism" [49%] even in an official survey. Good bye "American Islam."

The really disturbing aspect of the report is that it puts the numbers of Muslims at less than 3 million.

The first-ever, nationwide, random sample survey of Muslim Americans finds them to be largely assimilated, happy with their lives, and moderate with respect to many of the issues that have divided Muslims and Westerners around the world.

The Pew Research Center conducted more than 55,000 interviews to obtain a national sample of 1,050 Muslims living in the United States. Interviews were conducted in English, Arabic, Farsi and Urdu. The resulting study, which draws on Pew's survey research among Muslims around the world, finds that Muslim Americans are a highly diverse population, one largely composed of immigrants. Nonetheless, they are decidedly American in their outlook, values and attitudes. This belief is reflected in Muslim American income and education levels, which generally mirror those of the public.

Key findings include:

Overall, Muslim Americans have a generally positive view of the larger society. Most say their communities are excellent or good places to live.
A large majority of Muslim Americans believe that hard work pays off in this society. Fully 71% agree that most people who want to get ahead in the U.S. can make it if they are willing to work hard.
The survey shows that although many Muslims are relative newcomers to the U.S., they are highly assimilated into American society. On balance, they believe that Muslims coming to the U.S. should try and adopt American customs, rather than trying to remain distinct from the larger society. And by nearly two-to-one (63%-32%) Muslim Americans do not see a conflict between being a devout Muslim and living in a modern society.
Roughly two-thirds (65%) of adult Muslims in the U.S. were born elsewhere. A relatively large proportion of Muslim immigrants are from Arab countries, but many also come from Pakistan and other South Asian countries. Among native-born Muslims, roughly half are African American (20% of U.S. Muslims overall), many of whom are converts to Islam.

Based on data from this survey, along with available Census Bureau data on immigrants' nativity and nationality, the Pew Research Center estimates the total population of Muslims in the United States at 2.35 million.
Muslim Americans reject Islamic extremism by larger margins than do Muslim minorities in Western European countries. However, there is somewhat more acceptance of Islamic extremism in some segments of the U.S. Muslim public than others. Fewer native-born African American Muslims than others completely condemn al Qaeda. In addition, younger Muslims in the U.S. are much more likely than older Muslim Americans to say that suicide bombing in the defense of Islam can be at least sometimes justified. Nonetheless, absolute levels of support for Islamic extremism among Muslim Americans are quite low, especially when compared with Muslims around the world.
A majority of Muslim Americans (53%) say it has become more difficult to be a Muslim in the U.S. since the Sept. 11 terrorist attacks. Most also believe that the government "singles out" Muslims for increased surveillance and monitoring.
Relatively few Muslim Americans believe the U.S.-led war on terror is a sincere effort to reduce terrorism, and many doubt that Arabs were responsible for the 9/11 attacks. MONSANTO Family Were Jewish Slave Dealers And Owners

Here is some interesting MONSANTO history:
The Jewish Monsanto Family of Louisiana included Benjamin, Isaac, Manuel, Eleanora, Gracia and Jacob. They made frequent purchases of Blacks including twelve in 1785, thirteen and then thirty-one in 1787, and eighty in 1768.
In 1794, Benjamin sold "Babet," a Black woman, to Franco Cardel. Manuel sold two Blacks from Guinea named "Polidor" and "Lucy" to James Saunders for $850 in silver.
As individuals they were owners of Africans whom they named "Quetelle," "Valentin," "Baptiste," "Prince," "Princess," "Ceasar," "Dolly," "Jen," "Fanchonet," "Rozetta," "Mamy," "Sofia," and many others. Isaac repeatedly mortgaged four of these when in financial trouble. Benjamin Monsanto of Natchez, Mississippi entered into at least 6 contracts for the sale of his slaves which would take place after his death. Gracia bequeathed nine Africans to her relatives in her 1790 will, and Eleanora also held Blacks as slaves.
Manuel Jacob Monsanto entered into at least 12 contracts for sale of slaves between 1787 and 1789 in Natchez and New Orleans, Louisiana. 1135 "His family consists of himself and seven Negroes." 1136 Later, "Jacob Monsanto, son of Isaac Rodrigues Monsanto, one of the very first known Jews to settle in New Orleans, owner of a several-hundred-acre plantation at Manchac, fell in love with his slave, Mamy or Maimi William. Their daughter Sophia, grew up to be a lovely quadroon." An excerpt of one of Benjamin's many slave contracts follows:
"Be it known to all to whom these presents shall come, that I Benjamin Monsanto do really and effectually sell to Henry Manadu a negro wench named "Judy," aged Eighteen years, native of Guinea, for the sum of four hundred Dollars in all the month of January in the year one thousand Seven hundred and ninety one; and paying interest at the rate of ten per cent for the remaining two hundred and fifty Dollars until paid; said negro wench being and remaining mortgaged until final payment shall have been made; wherewith I acknowledge to be fully satisfied and content, hereby renouncing the plea of non numerata pecunia, fraud, or others in the case Whatsoever; granting formal receipt for the same. For which said consideration I do hereby resign all right, title, possession and claim, in and to the said Slave, all of which I transfer and convey to the Said Purchaser and his assigns, to be, as his own, held and enjoyed, and when fully paid for, Sold, exchanged, or otherwise alienated at pleasure in virtue of these presents granted in his favor in token of real delivery, without other proof of property being required, from which he is hereby released, binding myself to maintain the validity of this present sale in full form and right in favor of the Purchaser aforesaid, and granting authority to the Justices of his Majesty to compel me to the performance of the same as if Judgment had already been given therein, renouncing all laws, rights, and privileges in my favor whatsoever. And I the said Henry Manadu being present, do hereby accept this Instrument in my favor, receiving said negro Wench as purchased in the form and for the consideration therein mentioned and contained, wherewith I am fully satisfied and content, hereby renouncing the plea of non numerato pecunia, fraud, or other considerations in the case Whatsoever; granting formal receipt for the same. Done and executed, in testimony thereof, at the post of Natchez, this nineteenth day of the month of February in the year one thousand seven hundred and ninety...."
Benjamin Monsanto, sold land and "a Dwelling House, Store, and two other buildings, for which I have received payment in a negro, named 'Nat;' to my full satisfaction." Another contract stipulated "that Don Louis Faure is bound to defend the said sale in case the negro shall be claimed by any other Person." In a 1792 contract, Benjamin mortgaged his Black slaves: "I do hereby specially mortgage three slaves to me belonging, namely Eugene and Louis, aged twenty four years each, the first named of the Senegal nation and the second of the Congo nation; and a Negro Woman named Adelaide, aged twenty eight years, also of the Congo nation; which said slaves I warrant free from mortgage or other incumbrance, as I have made appear by certificate from the Recorder of mortgages; and which said slaves I promise and engage shall not be sold nor otherwise alienated during the term of this obligation..."

The following Jews were known dealers, owners, shippers or supporters of the slave trade and of the enslavement of Black African citizens in early New York history.

Musharraf's troops Ready to Attack Young Islamic Women

Heavy Troop Movement: Roads Blocked: Waiting for Martyrdom

On May 23, 2007 New Trend interviewed Sis. Umm Hasan, Principal of the Islamic Women's university Jamia Hafsa in Islamabad. New Trend followed up with an update from one of the two leaders of Lal Masjid, Abdur Rashid Ghazi on May 25.

Here are the main points of the interview:

Musharraf's forces have blocked the approaches leading to Jamia Hafsa.
Thousands of police have been brought from all over Punjab province to provide back up support to the expected operation.
The regime asked people in the neighborhoods leading to Jamia Hafsa to close down their homes and shops and evacuate to avoid casualties. The local people announced that they support Jamia Hafsa and would block the troops' access to the university.
Hospital facilities have been readied for casualties.
The government keeps switching from "red alert" to "all clear" to unsettle the young women and to create a sense of uncertainty and foreboding.
Young men from Lal Masjid who support the women are being arrested. Twenty five young men were arrested by Mush's police while they were out buying food for the masjid.
The young women ARRESTED FIVE POLICEMEN who were loitering too close to the university gates and wouldn't leave. They were told that it is offensive and unIslamic for strange men to be loitering close to a women's school but they wouldn't leave.
Two of these policemen were later released in exchange for 5 of the young men arrested by the regime.
We have done nothing wrong. We want Shar'ia which is the demand of the people of Pakistan.
If the General attacks, we will give our lives. We are ready for martyrdom.

Update from Abdur Rashid Ghazi: May 25:

The government has eased some of the blockade. Roads have been re-opened. The intense media attention stopped Mush from carrying out a blatant attack.
The General has not given up. Now he is planning a night attack ["shub khoon" in Urdu]. He also wants to cut off all media which give Jamia Hafsa's side of the story.
Once the operation has been completed, the General and the media supporting him will give a totally "general's view" of the situation.
The parents of some of the young women have asked them to come home but the they refused, saying that this is their jihad.
The secular media are saying that the women have been "brainwashed" by me! One prominent woman in the media claimed that she does not want to go into the school for fear of getting "brainwashed." She said that even when I was talking to her on the phone she was getting "brainwashed!"
There are 3,000 young women in Jamia Hafsa.
