Very Unusual Khutba in Greensboro, North Carolina
Islamic Teachings on Friendship: Why is it important? Why it can change your life & your future?

Text: ..."And our seducers were only those who were steeped in guilt. Now, then, we have none to intercede for us, nor a single friend to feel for us, now if we only had a chance of return, we shall truly be of those who believe." [The Qur'an 26:99-102]

Imam Badi Ali, a famous Palestinian teacher, guide and Imam, especially helping young people, gives juma' Khutbas to hundreds of people at the Islamic Center of the Triad {ICT] Here is a summary of his latest.

Friendship is very important in Islam. Prophet Muhammad, pbuh, has taught that a person will follow the fate of his friend. Friendship is connected to the purpose of Creation itself. Choose a friend who will have the qualities of humanity that when you look at him, you will remember Allah. The salaf have taught that we should befriend those who will strengthen our faith.
A poet has said, befriend the trustworthy who like the wind will take everything with it.

A hypocrite should not be your friend. He could damage your DEEN. Be aware of the friend who invites towards sin or towards doubt and suspicion. Such doubters will seek DUNYA and block your way to the Hereafter.

Your friends are your precious resources. Treat them with good manners and due respect. Visit even those who abandoned you. Give to those who did not give you. Even be kind to those who were tending to be oppressive.

With your brothers, find an excuse, do not accuse, for what they do. Look at Tableeghi Jamaat. When one of them speaks, the others in his group make du'a for him.
Treat your brother with mercy. It is a form of worship. Ibn Abbas, r.a., said of a friend: He loves me. He was asked; How do you know. He replied: Because I love him. Souls are like soldiers. They recognize each other.

SHARE your thoughts with friends. It is easier to share with friends than even with family. Guard and protect their secrets. One brother was asked: Will you protect my secret? He replied: I forgot it already! Don't lose your friend. It is like losing your eye or ear!

ADVICE: Always advise your friend, especially during times of hardship and fitna. Advice is social exchange, face to face, not through chatrooms and emails.
COMPLIMENTS: Praise your friend whenever praise is due, within Islamic limits. Give praise on a regular basis.

Make your friend feel that he is special and exceptional.
Finally serve him, give him the best and make Du'a to Allah [supplication] for him.
{All this applies to sisters and their female friends too.]

US-Qadiani [Ahmeddi] link up in killing of Al-Qaida Leader: Minorities are used.

According to the pro-government daily "Dawn" last week the US killed Badr Mansoor who was seen as al-Qaidah's leader in Pakistan. He was wanted as top target by the US, says Dawn, because of his attacks on Qadianis [Ahmedis] who are said to be actively engaged in the army's camaign against Pak Taliban. [Use of minorities is common in Muslim lands. In Egypt, Copts were with Hosni Mubarak, in Iran, Bahais with the Shah, in Syria, Christians and Alawites are with Assad and in Jordan, Christians, a tiny minority, help the Kng to crush dissent.

Pak Leader Sees US interference.
Jamaate Islami condemns bill on Baluchistan in US House.
Supports Kashmir & Palestine.

LAHORE, Feb. 18: Ameer, Jamaat e Islami, Pakistan, Syed Munawar Hasan, has strongly condemned the bill introduced in the US House of Representatives for "self determination right to the Baluchistan people", terming it a blatant interference in Pakistan's internal affairs.
In a statement here on Saturday, he said theUShad come out openly against his country and it might use the UN platform to separateBaluchistanfrom this country in the manner it had done in the case ofEast TaimurandSouth Sudan.
He stressed upon the government to review its ties with the US, end its support to the US in the terror war and devise an independent foreign policy and efforts be made for the formation of a Muslim bloc with the support of China, Iran, Afghanistan and Turkey.
The JI Ameer said that on one hand, US drones were violatingPakistan's airspace while on the other hand, it was most shamelessly supporting plans aiming at the break up of this country. The bill introduced in the US House of Representatives made it quite clear that theUSandIndiaboth were behind the Baluch Nationalists and were distributing arms and funds among them. He wondered if this move did not open the eyes of the rulers and they still expected good from Washington.

Syed Munawar Hasan said that India had been carrying out state terrorism in the disputed state ofKashmirand committing gross human rights violations. It had killed hundreds of thousand of Kashmiris while thousands of women had been criminally assaulted. At the same time, he said, dozens of separatist movements were going on inIndia. He said it was surprising that theUSdid not take notice ofIndia's excesses. The UN had adopted a number of resolutions assuring right of self determination to the Kashmiris but there was no world pressure onIndiato implement those resolutions.

Besides, he said, the US had been openly supporting Israel and was thus fully involved in the massacre of innocent Palestinians. Every resolution againstIsraelwas vetoed byWashingtonto obstruct any action against the Zionist state.

He said, the UN resolution onEast Timor and South Sudan were implemented promptly because Christian population was to benefit whereas the resolution seeking the same right for the Muslim Majority was being ignored.

Middle East Rumors : Statement issued by Coca Cola

Rumor: BoycottingCoca-Cola makes a statement against America and American (foreign) policies

Our Response: The Coca-Cola Company and our products are often regarded as American. But the fact is that The Coca-Cola Company is a truly international company, operating worldwide in more than 200 countries. The Coca-Cola business in each country is a local business. Coca-Cola beverages are produced, sold and distributed by authorized local bottling partners, who own and operate bottling plants and sales/distribution centers, employing one million local citizens - 90% outside the United States, and nearly all of them citizens of other countries.

For example, in the Palestinian Authority, The National Beverage Company, our Company's authorized local bottling partner, is an independent, privately held company, managed by local Palestinian businesspeople, who operate a Coca-Cola bottling facility located in Ramallah and distribution centers in Gaza, Hebron and Nablus. The National Beverage Company employs 200 local people and generates employment for hundreds of others in related industries. Throughout the Middle East we operate as a local business, run by local people and employing more than 20,000 local people, with local shareowners.

The Coca-Cola business is one of the most diverse organizations in the world, operating across a wide spectrum of economic, political and religious environments. As a business, Coca-Cola has neither the mandate to support nor an interest in supporting individual countries, governments or political or religious causes.

As everybody else, we are deeply touched by the human side of the situation in the Middle East. Given the local nature of our business, we believe that calls for boycotts of our products are not the appropriate way to further any causes, as they primarily hurt the local economy, local businesses and local citizens. Spreading such allegations is an attempt to exploit a delicate situation in the Middle East.

Rebuttal of Coca Cola Statement by Jamaat al-Muslimeen via Tennessee Dawah.

Many have probably seen this, but I would like to post it again. Strange how Coca-Cola tries to seem as though they are bolstering the community and the economic situation in Palestine. Hysterical read. As we should all know, the truth of Coca-Cola in Palestine is this: From 1966 Coca-Cola has been a staunch supporter of Israel. In 1997 the Government of Israel Economic Mission honored Coca-Co...la at the Israel Trade Award Dinner for its continued support of Israel for the last 30 years and for refusing to abide by the Arab League boycott of Israel.

Every year Coca Cola bankrolls the American-Israel Chamber of Commerce Awards which honors companies that have contributed most to the Israeli economy. In 2009 a Coca-Cola sponsored award went to Israel's Lobby AIPAC for its lobbying of the Senate to reject of the UN call for "immediate ceasefire" and endorse the continuation of the Israel military assault on Gaza.

In 2008 Coca-Cola tasked the Israeli venture capital Challenge Fund to locate suitable investments in Israel with a promise of "a blank cheque" . This agreement is exceptional in the Israeli venture capital industry.

In 2009 Coca-Cola hosted a special reception at the Coca-Cola world headquarters to honour Brigadier-General Ben-Eliezer. Ben-Eliezer is a wanted war criminal, during the Six-Day War his unit was responsible for the execution of over 300 Egyptian POWs. Under Sharon, Ben-Eliezer served as Defence Minister presiding over the massacre at Jenin.
Coca-Cola Israel owns dairy farms in the illegal Israeli settlements of Shadmot Mechola in the Jordan Valley and a plant in the industrial zone of Katzerin n the occupied Golan Heights.

The Changing Face of Saudi Arabia: Stations 30 Times the Size of London's Trafalgar Square

The Haramain High-speed Railway is a major infrastructure project for the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, connecting the cities of Makkah, Madinah, Jeddah and the developing King Abdullah Economic City (KAEC). The stations are conceived as gateways to each city, filled with places to meet, shop, eat and shelter from the sun. Altogether, the large, flexible stations will cover an area more than 30 times the size of London's Trafalgar Square and will initially accommodate an anticipated 60 million passengers - approximately six times the number of passengers that take the Eurostar from St Pancras each year. This is expected to increase to 135 million passengers by 2042.

Brooklyn D.A. Investigation Leads to 85 Sexual Predators Arrested in Orthodox Jewish Community

Brooklyn DA Charles Hynes.

Earlier this summer, the Hasidic community in Borough Park was ripped asunder by one of the most gruesome murders imaginable — a young Jewish boy smothered and disemboweled. The murderer may have been a troubled outcast, as Matthew Shaer describes in last week's New York, but he was still one of their own — a chilling reality check. Now, the Brooklyn District Attorney's office has revealed the results of a three-year investigation into sexual abuse in the borough's Orthodox Jewish community that is downright seismic: 85 sexual predators arrested and 117 victims identified, according to the Post.
Front and center in the investigation, it seems, is one Andrew Goodman, a 27-year-old adopted as a child into an Orthodox Jewish family, who had spent the past several years working with nonprofits for at-risk youths and mentally disabled adults, where his responsibilities included helping residents go to the bathroom and shower. He faces a 144-count indictment stemming from two victims in Flatbush — next door to Borough Park — who claim to have been sexually abused by Goodman during their early teens. But the number of his victims is likely much higher. After being released on bail in summer of 2010, following his arrest, the community was witness, either via videotape or visit from the Shromrim patrol, to three separate occasions when Goodman had young boys in his house (where he lives with his mother and sister): four the first time, three the second, and one the third.
So far, about 38 cases in the Brooklyn D.A.'s Project Kol Tzedek — which the Post translates as Hebrew for "voice of justice" (find a tip sheet with helpline information here) — have been closed, with just under two thirds resulting in the perps walking free. Many pleaded to lesser changes, with the Post claiming that some got off mostly scot-free because "victims or their parents backed out under community pressure." Of the fourteen or so who were handed jail sentences, the longest sentence may be up to twenty years. While difficult days of introspection are surely ahead for Brooklyn's insular Orthodox enclaves, growing awareness of such crimes and rabbis' willingness to seek out secular help are essential for the community to protect its most vulnerable even while preserving its oldest and most cherished traditions.
